“It is urgent to start working on ending the conflict in Ukraine,” – Finnish politician
October 1, 2025The Kremlin has stated that a “pause” has occurred in negotiations with Ukraine, and it blames Kyiv for this.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told journalists that the Ukrainian authorities “are in no hurry to continue the Istanbul negotiation process, are slow to respond to the submitted draft documents, and are not reacting to the proposal to establish three working groups.”
“It is precisely the negotiation process at the expert level that can prepare the ground for contacts at the highest level. High-level contacts in and of themselves cannot be the goal, as they will not help solve such a complex and difficult problem,” Peskov said.
Meanwhile, over the weekend, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance accused Russia of derailing negotiations. According to him, in recent weeks Moscow refused several meetings dedicated to Ukraine.
Many world leaders believe that the war in Ukraine will ultimately end with negotiations. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, among others, has expressed this view.
