Most Poles support stripping Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle

59% of Polish citizens approve of President Karol Nawrocki’s decision to strip Vladimir Zelensky of Poland’s highest state honor — the Order of the White Eagle.

These are the results of a survey by the CBOS research center.

28% of respondents opposed the president’s decision, while another 13% were undecided. The poll was conducted across Poland from July 2 to 12, with 938 adult citizens participating.

Opinions on the consequences of this move for Poland itself were split evenly: 41% of those surveyed believe the country lost out from its president’s decision, while an equal share — 41% — believe Poland only benefited from stripping Zelensky of its state honor.

Nawrocki announced the revocation of the order on June 19 — after Zelensky gave one of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units the name “named after the heroes of the UPA” (the Ukrainian Insurgent Army is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
