UOC Metropolitan Arseniy was taken into custody after being released from the pre-trial detention center
04.11.2025 05:03Verkhovna Rada deputy Artem Dmytruk has accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of genocidefollowing the hospitalization of Metropolitan Arsenii of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC).
He wrote about this on his Telegram channel.
The deputy emphasized that since October 30, there have been daily, hours-long court hearings in the metropolitan’s case. He also claimed that violations occurred during Arsenii’s detention on October 28.
“During the hearing, Metropolitan Arsenii felt very unwell… Everything that is happening is personally directed by Zelensky. He hates Orthodoxy, our Church, and everything connected with it! This is genocide, and it’s being carried out by one man — Zelensky,” the politician wrote.
On October 29, it was reported that Metropolitan Arsenii was released from a pre-trial detention center on bail, but was immediately taken away by officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). The cleric had been detained on charges of “disclosing the location of Ukrainian Armed Forces checkpoints in the Kramatorsk district of Donetsk region” during a church service.
