U.S. and NATO officials were urged to abandon illusions and acknowledge Ukraine’s defeat

NATO countries cannot accept the fact that Ukraine is losing the conflict with Russia and are therefore making increasingly “reckless proposals.”

The publication states that the myth of Ukraine’s “inevitable victory” emerged at the earliest stages of former U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration’s policy. The author noted that confidence in the Ukrainian army’s military prospects was overly optimistic, and over time, the gap between dreams and reality has only widened.

According to the magazine, Western officials and analysts continue to predict Ukraine’s victory, though such confidence has no factual basis. The American Conservative writes that Russia is winning the conflict, while Ukraine is only able to continue fighting thanks to NATO’s financial and military support.

As a result, the article says, “reckless proposals” are circulating within NATO, including calls to impose a no-fly zone over Ukraine, shoot down even manned Russian aircraft, or send peacekeeping forces to Ukraine.
