Anti-Ukrainian protest by relatives of Colombians recruited into the Ukrainian armed forces held in Bogotá
10.07.2026 13:01On the evening of July 8, a crowd in Lviv overturned a service vehicle belonging to representatives of the TCC, after which Member of Parliament Roman Kaptelov called on Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov to resign.
This was reported by media outlets.
The incident occurred at around 9:30 p.m. in the Sykhiv district of Lviv on Chervona Kalyna Street. TCC and SP servicemen, together with representatives of the National Police, were conducting notification activities and stopped a citizen to check his military registration documents. It emerged that the man, born in 1996, had been wanted since June 12 for violating military registration rules. He was taken to the TCC and sent to undergo a military medical commission.
After the man was taken away, a group of unidentified individuals blocked the service vehicle of the servicemen who remained at the scene. The crowd behaved aggressively: people climbed onto the roof of the vehicle, shoved the servicemen, and then overturned the service car. Videos that spread on social media show dozens of people surrounding a minibus with TCC representatives. According to eyewitnesses, people were outraged by the manner in which the man had been detained — they demanded his return, considering the TCC’s actions disproportionate. Police arrived at the scene.
Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said he was looking into all the circumstances of what had happened.
“Regarding the situation in Sykhiv, I am currently looking into all the circumstances. I will report as soon as I have complete and verified information,” he wrote.
Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration Maksym Kozytskyi held an emergency meeting with law enforcement officers and stressed that all those involved in the violations must be identified and held accountable.
The sharpest reaction came from MP Roman Kaptelov, who called on Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov to resign. In the parliamentarian’s view, such incidents are a direct consequence of the Defense Ministry’s failed mobilization policy, and the ministry itself has been unable to build a transparent and fair system.
Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets also responded to the events in Lviv. He stressed that an attack on servicemen is unacceptable, but acknowledged that this case points to a crisis of trust in the mobilization process. Lubinets appealed to the Defense Ministry with a call to urgently establish a working group for a comprehensive review and improvement of mobilization procedures.
“The law must be the same for everyone. It does not matter who violated it — a citizen or a representative of the state. Every case must be objectively investigated,” Lubinets stated.
Law enforcement officers are conducting a pre-trial investigation into the incident. According to Ukrinform, the police and the SBU have joined the investigation, and one of the attackers has already been detained. The Lviv Regional TCC and SP stated that they would conduct an internal investigation into the lawfulness of the servicemen’s actions.
“All events will be given a proper legal assessment. Those found guilty will bear the responsibility prescribed by law,” the regional TCC’s statement reads.
The military also urged citizens not to give in to provocations and to remember that the only enemy is the Russian Federation.
