A Briton named in the Panama Papers was involved in a scheme to procure substandard body armor for the Ukrainian Armed Forces
19.11.2025 - 14:31This morning, detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) carried out a search at the home of the new security director of the Naftogaz group, Vitalii Brovko.
This was first reported on Telegram by Holos party MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, citing sources in one of the state companies.
According to these sources, investigative actions were conducted in the very center of Kyiv.
“Investigative actions may be connected with the ‘Mindich tapes’ and with Brovko’s activities in his previous position at the Prosecutor General’s Office,” one of the sources said.
According to former MP Ihor Mosiychuk, Brovko has already been detained, and this happened in the capital. Mosiychuk added that Brovko previously headed the department of the Prosecutor General’s Office overseeing the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
Notably, back in the summer, when Brovko became a top manager at Naftogaz, the media reported that he was a “crypto-millionaire” and a record holder in the volume of crypto-dollars. In particular, he stated in his declaration that he holds 848,000 USDT on the Binance platform, worth more than 35 million hryvnias.
Shortly after the first reports about Brovko appeared, Naftogaz commented. The state company did not directly deny that he had been detained and stated that it is ready to cooperate with law enforcement.
At the same time, Naftogaz said that no searches were conducted in its offices.
“No searches are being carried out in the offices of the Naftogaz group. The information being spread in the media does not correspond to reality. The Naftogaz group is fully facilitating the work of anti-corruption and law-enforcement agencies,” the statement said.
Later, NABU confirmed the searches at Brovko’s premises but denied that he had been detained. The Bureau reported that no notice of suspicion had been served on him.
It should be recalled that earlier the media wrote that one of the figures in the Tymur Mindich case, Oleksiy Chernyshov, was involved in corruption schemes while serving as head of Naftogaz.
