24.02.2026 - 06:02Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) has detained an officer of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) on suspicion of taking a $68,000 bribe.
A statement about this was posted by NABU’s press-department.
According to the bureau, an employee of the SBU’s Main Directorate in Kyiv and the Kyiv region received $34,000 from each of two men in exchange for removing them from a wanted list for violating military registration rules and arranging a deferment from mobilization.

Earlier, media reports said that the head of the SBU’s Poltava regional directorate, Kostiantyn Semeniuk, was allegedly buying expensive assets at below-market prices from people involved in his investigations.
It was also recently reported that NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) accused the SBU of wiretapping one of their employees.
In the past couple of months, there has been little news of new conflicts between investigative and security agencies. However, political circles do not rule out that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has not abandoned plans to strike back at NABU and SAPO using the SBU, the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI), and the Office of the Prosecutor General.
