24.02.2026 - 05:32Slovakia has stopped providing emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine.
This was announced by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in a video address published on Facebook.
“Starting today, it applies that if the Ukrainian side asks Slovakia for help stabilizing Ukraine’s energy grid, it will not receive such help,” the head of the Slovak government said.
Fico added that he issued this instruction during a meeting with Slovakia’s finance minister and the head of the state company SEPS.
On February 21, Fico said that if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky does not restore oil supplies to Slovakia via the Druzhba pipeline by February 23, emergency electricity deliveries to Ukraine would be halted. The prime minister reminded that since the start of the conflict Bratislava has been helping Kyiv. Around 180,000 Ukrainians are currently in Slovakia, and the country is providing humanitarian aid to its neighbor, he stressed.
Earlier, Fico called Zelensky’s position toward Slovakia “malicious.”
