28.08.2026 14:05The National Bank of Ukraine is conducting unscheduled inspections of financial institutions that served clients who posted bail for former energy minister Herman Halushchenko.
This is stated in a declaration by the NBU board.
The inspections began on August 24. The regulator intends to verify whether these banks complied with financial monitoring legislation when serving the relevant clients.
The NBU has not disclosed the names of the banks under inspection. At the same time, the regulator stated that between late 2022 and 2026, the National Bank’s committee adopted more than a hundred decisions concerning Sens Bank and sent 21 notifications to law enforcement agencies, the tax service, and the financial monitoring service.
According to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, the collection of funds for Halushchenko’s bail was organized by former deputy head of the Office of the President Iryna Mudra, who is currently in pre-trial detention. To process payments totaling approximately €2.9 million, the financial monitoring system was temporarily disabled.
Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers suspended the chairman of the supervisory board of Sens Bank, who is named in the NABU case.
