Hungary’s objections stall Ukraine’s EU accession talks
November 22, 2023Western support for Ukraine is melting, and without It, Kyiv cannot win, believes Former French diplomat
November 22, 2023While US lawmakers debate additional military aid to Ukraine, nearly half of the American populace holds the opinion that the country’s spending on Kyiv is disproportionately high. This is reported by Associated Press referencing a joint survey conducted with the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.
Approximately 45% of Americans advocate for a reduction in the financial allocation to Ukraine. This stance aligns notably with the views of conservative members within the Republican Party in Congress, who oppose President Joe Biden’s efforts to approve further financial assistance to Kyiv. They argue that these funds should be directed towards addressing internal matters.
Eric Mondello, a respondent from Colorado, voiced concerns about the excessive spending on Ukraine, stating a preference to tackle domestic issues over allocating significant resources overseas. A common sentiment among those who feel that the US is providing Ukraine with an “adequate amount” of support is the lack of oversight in the utilization of allocated funds, alongside uncertainty about the duration of ongoing assistance.
