‘We want to live’: professional fisherman from the Ukrainian national team decided not to return after the competition in Italy
November 14, 2023During the night on Tuesday, a session was held at the Pechersk Court regarding the detention measure for Deputy Alexander Dubinsky, who has been suspected in a case of state treason. The court ordered Ukrainian Member of Parliament Alexander Dubinsky to be remanded in custody for two months, until January 12, 2024, without the option for bail.
Dubinsky himself announced this after the session, which extended late into the night.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine confirmed Dubinsky’s detention for 60 days, without the possibility of release on bail.
To recap, Alexander Dubinsky is accused of engaging in information subversion activities in favor of the Russian Federation. According to the investigation, he used the code name “Buratino” and was a part of a criminal organization formed by the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia. It is alleged that Dubinsky spread false information about the leadership of Ukraine, particularly by publishing “Derkach tapes” about Kyiv’s influence on the 2019 presidential elections in the United States.
Dubinsky himself has labeled the case against him as fabricated and based on empty allegations.
This marks the second criminal case against a member of the Ukrainian parliament in recent times. Previously, another case was opened against him regarding an illegal trip abroad. As part of the precautionary measure in that case, he was under house arrest.
