“He should not have allowed the war to start”: Trump blamed Zelensky for the Ukraine-Russia conflict
October 18, 2024The mayor of a town in Bavaria, Germany, has banned Ukrainian refugees from registering in his municipality, citing a lack of available spaces in kindergartens, schools, and accommodation centers.
This was reported by the British newspaper “The Telegraph”.
The decision by Jürgen Fundke, the mayor of Bad Griesbach, has sparked conflict with officials in the Passau district after he refused their request to house 35 Ukrainian refugees. According to the article, the Passau district administration, which oversees migration issues, sent a letter to Fundke demanding that he allow Ukrainians to register in his town. Fundke responded with, “I’ll read this at Christmas.”
Since then, the mayor has been trying to convince authorities to remove him from office based on his refusal to accept more Ukrainian refugees. He argues that the town has already fulfilled its responsibility for taking in refugees and can no longer accommodate additional people.
According to another German publication, “Focus Online”, Fundke also suggested that Passau authorities send the refugees to other towns and villages in the region that have not yet taken in any refugees.
It’s also worth noting that starting in 2025, Germany will tighten its welfare rules. Additionally, “Deutsche Welle” recently reported that more Ukrainian refugees are finding jobs in Germany.
