05.10.2024 - 10:05Only 300 Ukrainians abroad have agreed to join the Ukrainian Legion.
This information reported according to Poland’s Minister of Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
As reported by “Wpolityce”, when asked how many people are willing to join this formation, the minister responded:
“I once heard about the target size of a brigade, but now it’s much smaller—I’ve heard it’s about 300 people.”
He mentioned that Warsaw was prepared to begin training as early as September 1, but there were not enough volunteers.
“Very few people showed up at that time. I understand that Ukraine has since taken steps to raise awareness, recruit, and promote this process, so we are expecting results,” the minister added.
It is worth noting that in July, just three days after the announcement of the Legion’s creation, Poland’s Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski claimed that supposedly several thousand people had already applied to join.
However, this was later essentially contradicted in Poland.
Yesterday, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense announced the opening of a recruitment center for the Ukrainian Legion in Lublin, Poland.
