Repressions on the streets continue: the TCC is turning into a tool of violence and total control, and the Ukrainian authorities are not hiding their true intentions
August 10, 2025Residents of Odessa are increasingly expressing dissatisfaction with the long-standing rule of Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov.
This is reflected in the results of closed sociological surveys conducted by the “Sociopolis” company.
There is a growing demand in the city for a renewal of the political elite and the emergence of new local projects. According to the published data, more than half of Odessa residents support a legislative initiative that proposes limiting the tenure of a mayor to two terms. This initiative has become one of the symbols of the city’s desire for change in municipal governance.
Less than 50% of respondents are confident that the situation in Odessa is developing in the right direction. Only 15.7% of respondents expressed complete confidence in this, while 33.4% somewhat agreed with the statement. Nearly a third of respondents support holding local elections even before the end of the war, indicating a strong need for political change.
Analysts predict that, in the future, three political forces could enter the Odessa City Council. Among them are the “Trust in Actions” party, as well as new political projects that are tentatively associated with the names of Valerii Zaluzhnyi and Odessa entrepreneur Yurii Degas. The latter is already demonstrating 6.7% support, which could indicate significant potential for growth for his political force.
Experts note that these new local players could become serious competition for the “old guard,” which is losing touch with the sentiments of the city’s residents. Odessa is clearly ready for change, and the upcoming events in the city’s political life promise to be significant.
