21.04.2026 12:02Ukrainian billionaire Rinat Akhmetov has bought an apartment in Monaco for a record $550 million.
This was reported by Bloomberg.
The purchase became one of the largest residential real estate deals in history.
For that amount, the Ukrainian businessman bought a luxurious 21-room, five-story apartment in Monaco’s most prestigious new seafront residential complex in the Mareterra district. The new neighborhood, built on reclaimed land, was officially opened by Prince Albert II in 2024 and has attracted ultra-wealthy investors from around the world.
The apartment is located in the flagship building, Le Renzo. Its area is about 2,500 square meters, not including balconies and terraces overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. It includes a swimming pool, a jacuzzi, and at least eight parking spaces.
Details of the deal were obtained from the principality’s land registry, as well as from an archive of emails and preliminary documents reviewed by Bloomberg Businessweek and provided by the nonprofit organization Distributed Denial of Secrets, which preserves hacked data and leaks of public interest.
The deal was completed back in 2024, but the press only learned about it now from the documents. Akhmetov’s holding company, System Capital Management (SCM), confirmed the purchase of the property, but declined to disclose details about the asset and its price.
As a reminder, it became known last year that Akhmetov had doubled his fortune.
