18.01.2024 - 06:01Bundestag, the German parliament, did not support a resolution on supplying long-range cruise missiles Taurus to Ukraine.
This information reported by German media.
The resolution, which demanded the transfer of Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine, was introduced by opposition members of the CDU/CSU faction.
Representative Kerstin Feregge, who presented the proposal for discussion, urged fellow deputies to support the demand to provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with Taurus missiles, stating that “Ukraine and all of Europe will be thankful for it.” She emphasized the importance of transferring the missiles to Ukraine.
However, out of 666 Bundestag deputies, 178 voted in favor of transferring the missiles, 485 opposed it, and three abstained from voting.
During the debates, representatives from both the right and left expressed strong opposition to the transfer of missiles, insisting on the “impossibility of defeating a nuclear state,” the criminal use of German weapons against Russians, and the “need for peaceful negotiations.”
