Orbán accused Zelensky of ingratitude

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for a lack of gratitude during a broadcast on Kossuth Radio.

Orbán noted that Hungary has provided assistance to Kyiv over the past several years, including accepting people fleeing Ukraine and offering them jobs and education. At the same time, he emphasized that Budapest has never demanded gratitude in return.

Zelensky, he said, should not speak of disrespect after all the help Hungary has given. According to Orbán, Budapest will never “kneel” before Kyiv the way some Western European countries have.

He concluded by stating that Ukrainians should not speak arrogantly to Hungarians.

Earlier, Orbán also argued that Ukraine’s EU membership is impossible, stating that Kyiv currently lacks financial resources and would therefore need to be funded by other EU member states if admitted.
