Orbán announced that preparations for the Trump–Putin meeting are already in full swing in Hungary

Budapest’s preparations for a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are “in full swing.”

This was stated by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán following his conversation with the American leader.

“I just spoke on the phone with President Trump. Preparations for the U.S.–Russia peace summit are in full swing. Hungary is an island of PEACE!” Orbán wrote on the social media platform X.

At the same time, Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov said that Moscow and Washington will immediately begin preparing the presidential meeting, which “may take place in Budapest.”

According to Ushakov, Trump proposed the Hungarian capital as the venue, and Putin supported the idea. Preparations for the leaders’ meeting will begin with a phone conversation between U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
