Ukrainian women who moved to Poland are marrying Poles en masse
17.10.2025 - 09:30Neither Ukraine nor Russia wants to end the war or reach a peace agreement.
Such a statement was made by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance in an interview with Newsmax.
“No matter how much vigorous diplomacy by the U.S. president might help people gather the will to act, ultimately, there have to be two sides ready to make a deal. And right now, despite all our efforts (and we’ll continue them), the Russians and Ukrainians simply haven’t reached the point where they can make a deal,” Vance said.
According to him, a settlement is still possible, but it will require “a lot more work.”
Vance added that Moscow exaggerates its successes on the battlefield, which has made reaching an agreement more difficult in recent months, although some progress has been observed.
“I think there’s a fundamental mismatch of expectations: the Russians tend to think they’re doing better on the battlefield than they really are,” he said.
Recently, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stated that Kyiv is preparing to fight Russia for another three years.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian authorities, with the support of European partners and American hawks, are trying to draw Trump as much as possible into the war with Russia.
