The bookmaker company PariMatch has filed a lawsuit against the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, demanding the cancellation of sanctions imposed due to its connections with Russia and Belarus.
This information is mentioned in a resolution by the Supreme Court dated August 10.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of the Cypriot company Weplay Media Holding Limited, which is registered under the trademark PariMatch. The defendant in the lawsuit is President Volodymyr Zelenskyy personally.
The court has scheduled the hearing for PariMatch’s lawsuit against the head of state for September 5.
PariMatch is seeking the cancellation of sanctions imposed due to the company’s connections with Russia, arguing that it has “terminated cooperation with Russian residents and is taking all possible measures to prevent the use of its products on the territory of Russia” since the start of the war.
In March 2023, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree imposing sanctions against several Russian bookmaking companies. The sanctions list included several structures of the Parimatch international holding company. It was revealed that some of the companies under Parimatch Tech were created by Russian citizens.
