January 22, 2024After the increase in the minimum living wage from January 1, 2024, the salaries of members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine have also been raised.

It is noted that Ukrainian parliamentarians receive not only a salary but also money for renting an apartment, compensation for parliamentary activities, and bonuses for the intensity of their work.
For instance, in 2023, the Speaker of the Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, had a salary of 32,200 hryvnias (approximately 785 euros), but in reality, he received about 99,700 hryvnias (approximately 2,430 euros) per month.
According to his declaration, Stefanchuk was credited with a salary of 718,333 hryvnias (approximately 17,514 euros). Of this, 478,833 hryvnias (approximately 11,675 euros) were compensation for expenses. This is three times more than his net salary.
In general, the salaries of Verkhovna Rada deputies changed as follows:
- Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada – from 32,208 hryvnias (785 euros) to 36,336 hryvnias (886 euros);
- First Deputy – from 30,866 hryvnias (approximately 753 euros) to 34,822 hryvnias (approximately 849 euros);
- Deputy – from 29,524 hryvnias (approximately 720 euros) to 33,308 hryvnias (approximately 812 euros);
- Committee Chairman – from 28,182 hryvnias (approximately 687 euros) to 31,794 hryvnias (approximately 773 euros);
- Committee Member – from 26,840 hryvnias (approximately 655 euros) to 30,280 hryvnias (approximately 738 euros).
Additionally, all deputies who do not own housing in Kyiv or whose housing is not registered in their name can receive compensation for rent. The annual amount is 237,900 hryvnias (5,800 euros) or about 19,800 hryvnias (approximately 483 euros) per month. These funds allow them to rent accommodation in the city center.
Meanwhile, the salary of deputies’ assistants is around 88,400 hryvnias (approximately 2,155 euros), and an additional 19,800 hryvnias (approximately 483 euros) per month are allocated for tax compensation on this salary. Compensation for performing deputy duties can be an additional 7,500 hryvnias (approximately 183 euros) per month.
In the meantime, recently, Roksolana Pidlasa, a MP from the “Sluga Naroda” faction in parliament, proposed taxing the purchase of a new iPhone by Ukrainians and paying more taxes on salaries exceeding 20,000 hryvnias (approximately 488 euros).
