Peskov explained when Zelensky will become the EU’s “bad boy”

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky may eventually become Europe’s “bad boy”.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said in comments to Vesti journalist Pavel Zarubin.

According to him, European countries may change their attitude toward Zelensky in the future. However, Peskov added that by that time the negative consequences for European economies will already have become apparent.

Earlier, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico suggested that Zelensky could destroy the Druzhba pipeline, whose pumping Kyiv has halted since late January. Fico warned that delays in resolving the Druzhba issue could lead to the most serious consequences for Eastern Europe’s energy sector.

At the end of January, Kyiv stopped pumping fuel through the Druzhba oil pipeline. After that, on February 18 Hungary halted diesel fuel supplies to Ukraine, and on February 20 it blocked an EU loan of €90 billion for Ukraine until the pumping of oil from Russia is resumed.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said the decision was a response to “blackmail” from Kyiv. He claimed that for political reasons the Ukrainian authorities are not resuming transit of Russian fuel through Druzhba, trying to provoke an energy crisis in Hungary and influence elections in April.

Earlier, Fico expressed confidence that Ukraine would refuse to repay loans issued by Europe.
