05.06.2026 11:31The probability of a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump this summer stands at 50%.
That assessment was given by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov in a conversation with RIA Novosti.
“Theoretically, 50%: either it will happen or it won’t,” Peskov said on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
In May, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that Moscow and Washington had not held talks about a meeting between the two leaders. Ushakov also noted that a meeting between Putin and Trump on the sidelines of the APEC summit in China was theoretically possible, but had not yet been agreed upon.
Earlier, Trump did not rule out the possibility of visiting Russia this year. According to him, such a visit could help establish peace in Ukraine. The U.S. president also acknowledged that Moscow and Washington have yet to reach a common understanding regarding the future of Donbas.
Trump also commented on the idea of a meeting between Putin and Zelensky.
