Territorial concessions without NATO membership: Reuters journalists concluded Trump’s plans for Ukraine
December 4, 2024Poland does not allow the creation of NATO zones of responsibility in Ukraine after the war, as was the case in Iraq.
This was stated by Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak on the TVN24 channel.
“I cannot imagine a situation where [in Ukraine] there would be zones [of responsibility] for individual countries, as it was in Iraq,” said Błaszczak.
He also commented on information about the peace plan of the elected U.S. president, Donald Trump. The minister believes that Trump does not yet have a plan for Ukraine, but only “assumptions.”
“At this point, there is no plan from President Trump; there are only assumptions that emerged before and after the elections,” said Błaszczak.
In addition, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz ruled out sending German troops to Ukraine.
“It is too early to speculate about sending peacekeeping forces to Ukraine,” he said in the Bundestag.
Earlier, several Western media outlets reported that European countries were discussing sending their troops to Ukraine to help enforce a potential ceasefire. German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock also reflected on this.
“Aside from security guarantees, such as NATO membership, there is also international presence to ensure the ceasefire,” said Baerbock at a NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Brussels.
