Hate crimes against Ukrainians in Poland rise by more than 30%
18.07.2026 10:06For the first time since 2014, when the CBOS sociological laboratory began tracking Polish attitudes toward Ukrainian refugees, a majority of respondents have spoken out against accepting them.
This is reported by RMF24, citing the results of the CBOS study.
According to the poll, 52% of Poles believe that Poland should not accept Ukrainian refugees. The opposite view is held by 42% of respondents. In addition, 54% of respondents believe that the assistance provided to Ukrainian refugees is excessive.
Since 2022, regular CBOS polls had consistently shown a majority of Poles in favor of Ukrainian refugees continuing to come to their country. The current results mark a fundamental shift in public sentiment.
The outlet had previously reported that Ukrainians arriving in Poland are increasingly being denied UKR status, which provides temporary protection.
Shortly before the poll results were published, a “Volhynia March” took place in Warsaw, with participants demanding that aid to Ukraine be stopped. The event, which was attended by hundreds of people, was organized by the far-right party “Confederation of the Polish Crown.”
