30.03.2026 15:01Poland plans to build a modern electronic barrier on its border with Ukraine to protect against illegal crossings. The authorities will spend 450 million zlotys (about $120 million) on the project.
This was reported by RMF FM.
As part of the project, poles equipped with daylight cameras and thermal imaging cameras will be installed.
“The decision to build an electronic barrier was made in response to the growing threat caused by Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine. The services emphasize that the situation on Poland’s eastern border remains dynamic, and the actions of criminal groups and the growing number of acts of sabotage in the country require decisive preventive measures. The barrier is intended not only to make illegal border crossings more difficult, but also to improve the effectiveness of detecting and responding to any incidents that may threaten state security,” the article says.
It should be noted that Poland is the least popular route for military-age men illegally fleeing Ukraine.
It is worth recalling that during the full-scale war, missiles and drones have repeatedly entered Polish territory.
The year before last, Polish officials also spoke about plans to build a road to the border with Russia’s Kaliningrad region in order to speed up troop deployments.
