Azarov: Ukraine will not be admitted to NATO now or in 10 years
10.07.2026 05:03Polish Member of the European Parliament Anna Zalewska stated that Ukraine must fulfill a number of conditions for EU membership — including making peace with Russia, resolving the territorial dispute, and ceasing the glorification of Nazi criminals.
She made the remarks while speaking in the European Parliament, as reported by a correspondent of PolitNavigator.
Zalewska paid particular attention to the issue of Ukraine’s glorification of Banderite criminals who, in her words, killed 100,000 Poles during the Second World War.
“This is a provocation directed not only against Poland, which has always supported Ukraine, but it is a provocation against European values, because this is a matter of European values. European values are enshrined in the treaties, and no one can build relations with the EU without such values. It is as if Germany were to allow the glorification of Hitler and his criminals. We want an end to this war — that is the primary condition for joining the EU. We want to settle the borders — that is also a condition for EU accession. We also want real negotiations,” — Zalewska stated.
In addition, the MEP warned of risks to the European market if Ukraine were admitted to the EU without addressing problems with customs corruption. According to her, Ukrainian territory could turn into a transit hub for counterfeit goods from third countries.
“We open the border and free trade. They say the border tax no longer matters, that it should be thrown in the trash, because products from all over the world will enter Europe through Ukraine without any obstacles,” — she warned.
