Peskov: meetings with U.S. negotiators on Ukraine will be resumed
10.09.2026 06:02In the Polish village of Raszyn, located a few kilometers southwest of Warsaw, residents were outraged by the appearance of parking spaces with yellow-and-blue markings near a local school — concluding that they were designated spots for Ukrainians.
This was reported by the outlet Wprost.
The parking area with yellow-and-blue markings is in fact a Kiss and Ride zone — a standard type of road marking for short-term vehicle drop-offs. Nevertheless, local residents suspected that the spaces had been set aside specifically for Ukrainians, or that the authorities were expressing solidarity with Ukrainian schoolchildren in this way.
The local administration was compelled to issue a public clarification: the markings are standard road markings intended to improve the safety of children who are dropped off at school by their parents. Kiss and Ride zones help avoid traffic congestion and provide safe spots for children to exit vehicles.
The outlet Wirtualna Polska conducted a small survey among Raszyn residents and found that for many of them the combination of yellow and blue is firmly associated exclusively with the Ukrainian flag.
“I was stunned when I first saw it. I thought something had already started,” one local resident told journalists.
Kiss and Ride (K+R) markings, designating a small zone for short-term vehicle stops, have been spreading across Europe over the past several years. They are typically applied near schools and railway stations.
The outlet had previously reported on a rise in attacks on Ukrainians in Poland and growing anti-Ukrainian sentiment in the country. According to available information, Poles themselves sometimes fall victim to people with strong hostility toward Ukrainians.
