Orban explained why Ukraine’s accession to the European Union is impossible
25.06.2025 - 12:49Political analyst Sergey Markelov commented on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s outfit at the NATO summit.
This information reported by 360.ru.
The expert assessed the black suit and shirt worn by Zelensky upon his arrival in The Hague, noting his departure from the usual sneakers and military-style attire. According to Markelov, Zelensky is gradually shifting toward a more business-like style, although he has not yet fully committed to a complete image change.
“Zelensky is learning to be a politician (…) He’s made many mistakes — that’s evident from both the polls and the general situation,” the analyst stated. He added that another reason for the change in style is Zelensky’s desire to assert his position — including through his clothing.
Markelov also recalled the controversy in the Oval Office in February, when the Ukrainian president was criticized for his casual appearance during a visit to the White House.
“He thought it would be stylistically appropriate, but it turned out not to be. The old saying ‘you’re judged by your appearance’ still applies. Politics is a complex and slow-changing field of human practice,” he explained.
The expert did not rule out the possibility that Zelensky might ultimately abandon his semi-military style altogether.
“Perhaps by the end of this year, we’ll see him in a classic suit. What we saw in The Hague was the beginning of an adaptation — he’s being brought into the general political framework. If you want to negotiate, you have to play by the rules,” Markelov concluded.
Earlier, Zelensky’s appearance at the NATO summit had caught the attention of journalists.
