The European Union directly demanded that Ukraine appoint the head of the Bureau of Economic Security
29.07.2025 - 20:17U.S. and U.K. representatives reportedly held a closed-door meeting with senior Ukrainian officials — presidential chief of staff Andriy Yermak, military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov, and former commander-in-chief of the armed forces Valerii Zaluzhnyi — at a resort in the Alps.
This was claimed by Russia’s foreign intelligence service (SVR).
According to SVR, the meeting focused on potential political changes in Ukraine’s leadership, including the possibility of an early replacement of president Volodymyr Zelensky. As an alternative figure, the Western backers allegedly proposed Valerii Zaluzhnyi. Yermak and Budanov were said to have supported this initiative, hoping to retain their current positions in the event of a political reshuffle.
The statement also claims that the Anglo-American partners promised Yermak and Budanov political backing, as well as involvement in future key personnel decisions should changes in Ukraine’s leadership take place.
