NATO summit in Ankara: Ukraine set to be the main source of disagreements
26.06.2026 07:31A majority of Polish citizens are against Ukraine’s membership in the European Union — such data were obtained by the Warsaw public opinion institute IBRiS in a poll conducted in June on behalf of Radio Zet.
According to the survey results, only one in three Poles — 35.3% — supports Ukraine’s accession to the EU. Six out of ten respondents — 59.7% — expressed opposition.
Support for Ukraine’s European integration varies noticeably depending on the political preferences of those surveyed. Among voters of parties belonging to Donald Tusk’s governing coalition, 64% are in favor and 32% are against. Among supporters of the parliamentary opposition — PiS, Confederation, Confederation of the Polish Crown, and Together — the picture is reversed: only 24% support Kyiv’s European integration, while 73% reject it.
At the European level, a number of leaders have also expressed skepticism about the prospects of Ukrainian membership. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has stated that Ukraine cannot become a member of the European Union while it is at war. Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar confirmed reports that his government had slowed down the process of Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
