March 5, 2024The employees of the Territorial Recruitment Centers in Poltava began recording all interactions with men on video cameras. This was reported by the head of the Poltava TRC, Istomin. Earlier, the same practice was introduced in Lviv. However, not a single full video that could justify the misconduct of the military has appeared so far.
“Our representatives have started using body cameras so that in case of a conflict, it would be documented from both sides and there would be fewer manipulations,” he said. He states that most conflict videos that end up on the internet are “manipulative, taken out of context, with only the ending included.”
“Usually, in the video, some people in uniform seem to restrict someone’s rights. Where and between whom the conflict actually arose is unclear,” Istomin believes. He notes that most of the TRC employees involved in notifications are servicemen who were wounded on the front lines. “And when they hear insults from citizens, ‘not everyone’s nerves can handle it,'” he added. Earlier, Lviv military enlistment offices also started wearing body cameras.
