The Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) has released surveillance footage showing how a group of athletic-looking young men attempted to seize the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Chernivtsi by disguising their entry as assistance to a man in a wheelchair.
The footage, captured by security cameras, shows a man being wheeled into the cathedral in a wheelchair, followed by a group of physically strong young men. Once inside, the man stands up from the wheelchair, and the entire group proceeds further into the church premises.
A second video shows the same group allegedly attacking clergy members and beating another person.
According to the UOC, supporters of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) attempted to seize the cathedral yesterday. During the clashes, two clergy members were reportedly injured.
However, the attempted takeover ultimately failed.
