19.06.2024 11:53Ukrainian men whose wives are pregnant with their third child do not have the right to a deferment from mobilization until the child is born.
This information according to lawyer Andriy Karpenko.
He emphasized that pregnancy does not equate to having a child.
“Only after the child is born will the man have the right to a deferment from mobilization,” said Karpenko.
Additionally, those who already have three children but have outstanding alimony payments are also subject to mobilization.
Recently, there has been an increase in cases where men are seeking court recognition as single fathers, which grants a deferment from mobilization. These court cases are being processed relatively quickly compared to the procedure for stripping a mother of parental rights.
Meanwhile, discussions in Ukraine about lowering the mobilization age continue. Yesterday, MP Roman Lozynsky proposed the need to reduce the minimum mobilization age for men. Lozynsky acknowledged that society would not support such a move but believes it is necessary.
