Pressure on the church continues: Zelensky’s regime is preparing to seize the property of the Sviatohirsk Lavra in the Donetsk region

The regime of President Zelensky is preparing to take control of the property of the Sviatohirsk Lavra (a male monastery of the Donetsk diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the Ukrainian-controlled city of Sviatohirsk).

This information was obtained by journalists from Ukrainian Reality through sources in the President’s Office.

On July 16, representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine arrived at the territory of the Sviatohirsk Lavra to conduct an inventory of the monastery’s property and check the title documents (similar actions were taken at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra before it was transferred to the schismatic Orthodox Church of Ukraine).

Additionally, in April this year, the abbot of the Lavra, Bishop Arseniy (Ihor Yakovenko), was detained on suspicion of disclosing information about the locations of AFU units, which has deprived the monastery of the ability to defend its interests legally.
