September 2, 2024Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ operation in Russia’s Kursk region an “attempt to stop Russia’s advance in Donbas” and “to destabilize the situation in the border region.”
The Russian president made this statement during a speech to schoolchildren in Tuva.
According to Putin, “this attempt failed,” and “the Russian army is now bringing territories under its control by the square kilometer.”
He also stated that Russia “will deal with the Ukrainian bandits in the Kursk region.”
Putin added that the Ukrainian authorities are “not interested” in ending the hostilities because they “fear losing the elections after the lifting of martial law.”
It should be noted that earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Russia would not negotiate with Ukraine regarding territories in the Kursk region.
Additionally, Russia’s Ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, said that Vladimir Putin has decided on “severe punishment” for the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ incursion into the Kursk region.
