03.07.2026 10:03Residents of two border villages in Chernihiv region — Chaikyne and Karabani — have refused to comply with a mandatory evacuation order and vacate their homes for the needs of the Ukrainian armed forces.
This was reported by TASS, citing Russian security forces.
“Residents of the border villages of Chaikyne and Karabani refused mandatory evacuation and the vacating of their homes for the needs of the Ukrainian armed forces,” the agency’s source said.
According to the source, the village elder of these settlements was forced to collect written refusals from residents. In the documents, the residents state that they do not intend to leave their homes or comply with the demands of the Ukrainian military command.
On July 1, RIA Novosti journalists, also citing Russian security forces, reported that law enforcement officers in Chernihiv region had begun forcing people, under the guise of evacuation, to vacate residential premises for the subsequent billeting of Ukrainian military units. According to the agency’s source, special combined detachments of police officers were formed in the region. In addition to organizing evacuation measures, they are engaged in searching for draft evaders and deserters.
Earlier, the authorities of Chernihiv region announced mandatory evacuation from 12 settlements.
