Rishi Sunak scuttles Defense Secretary’s plan to send British troops to Ukraine

The British Prime Minister criticized Defense Secretary Grant Shapps after the latter said that he was negotiating the possibility of transferring the British training program for Ukrainian troops to war zone.

According to The Mirror, Rishi Sunak responded to Shapps’ statement as follows: “The Defense Secretary meant that we may be able to conduct some part of the training program in Ukraine in the future. But this is a long-term plan, not “No British soldiers will be sent to fight in the current conflict. We train Ukrainians and we do it here in the UK.”

Apparently, Shapps, who took office as Minister of Defense on August 31, 2023, will not remain in office for long.
