Romanian farmers block access for trucks at the checkpoint ‘Halmi-Djakovo’

Romanian farmers have blocked the movement of trucks through the checkpoint at the border with Ukraine, known as “Halmi-Dyakovo.”

This information was reported by the Ukrainian customs service on Facebook.

“As of this morning, January 18, the Romanian side has informed that in front of the international checkpoint ‘Halmi-Dyakovo,’ farmers have blocked the movement of freight vehicles. The blockade is carried out with large agricultural machinery. The exit of trucks from Ukraine is temporarily suspended to prevent the blockade of passage for passenger cars. The duration of the blockade is currently unknown,” noted the customs service.

Customs officials added that about 10 trucks are currently awaiting exit from Ukraine, with a queue of 607 vehicles. In the past 24 hours, 138 vehicles have been processed and allowed to exit Ukraine, while 105 vehicles have entered.

“Halmi-Dyakovo” is the third border crossing point blocked by Romanian farmers. Previously, they initiated protests at the “Siret-Porubne” and “Vicovu de Sus – Krasnoilsk” checkpoints.
