Elections and territories: Western media have named the topics of talks between the U.S. and Ukrainian delegations in Florida
01.12.2025 - 05:03U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced significant progress in negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine, saying that the talks have brought the sides closer to securing Ukraine’s independence.
He said this at the start of talks with the Ukrainian delegation in Miami on Sunday, November 30.
“We are already halfway toward ensuring sovereignty and independence for Ukraine. We have made significant progress today,” he stated.
Rubio noted that today’s negotiations are based on the groundwork achieved in Geneva on November 23 and during previous contacts.
“We are building these talks on what has already been achieved… The ultimate goal is not just to end the war. We want to see an end to the killing, the deaths, and the suffering, and I know Ukrainians want peace as well,” the Secretary of State said.
According to him, it is important not just to end the war, but to do so in a way that allows Ukraine to preserve its sovereignty and independence, gain the opportunity for long-term development, and “never have war again.”
He reminded that Ukraine has great economic potential, but it can only be realized after a sustainable peace is established.
Rubio expressed hope for even greater progress by the end of today’s talks.
