This conclusion is made based on visual data from a remote base in the Arctic. The current situation there mirrors preparations for previous tests of the Burevestnik or SSC-X-9 Skyfall in 2017 and 2018.
All 13 known previous tests had failed, once killing 7 people.
The Burevestnik is an experimental nuclear-powered cruise missile with a theoretical range of 1,609 km.
Experts say that even if the launch is successful, it would still be years away from “operational deployment.”
The missile is supposed to be launched using a solid rocket motor before activating a small nuclear reactor in flight, theoretically allowing the missile to remain aloft indefinitely. It is a “strategic range second strike weapon.”
It was previously reported that the United States and China may also be preparing for the first nuclear tests in almost 30 years.
