The Russian Ministry of Defense has announced the destruction of a second launch unit of the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) produced by the United States.
Additionally, the ministry has released video footage of the destruction of the equipment.
As stated in today’s ministry briefing, Russian forces allegedly targeted clusters of Ukrainian military vehicles in 132 areas.
Ukraine has not confirmed this. Later, Ukrainian politician Igor Lapin also claimed that the Russian Armed Forces were able to destroy the HIMARS rocket system thanks to the fact that the Ukrainian electronic warfare (EW) system failed to detect the drone observing it.
According to Lapin, the HIMARS unit moved into position and remained there for about half an hour, allowing the Russian Armed Forces to detect the installation, target the missile, and destroy the complex. The Ukrainian electronic reconnaissance system did not detect the Russian drone, he added.
“This indicates a failure of electronic reconnaissance. This is already a serious problem. Why the hell was it standing there for half an hour?” Lapin complained.
