“Unfair and dishonest”: Zelensky calls Trump’s diesel deal with Putin a birthday gift
10.10.2026 10:31Russia has confirmed its readiness to supply oil and petroleum products to the American and global markets.
This was stated in the Kremlin’s readout following a phone call between President Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
“During the discussion of the state of affairs in global energy, the Russian side confirmed its readiness to supply oil and petroleum products to the American and global markets,” the Kremlin said.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak also confirmed the lifting of restrictions on diesel fuel exports, ahead of the originally planned schedule.
“Russia is immediately beginning to lift restrictions on diesel exports ahead of the planned timeline,” Novak said.
Trump, for his part, said he had reached an agreement on the supply of large quantities of Russian diesel fuel to global and American markets. Shortly after, the US lifted sanctions on Russian diesel fuel until April 7.
During the call, the presidents also discussed the settlement of the war in Ukraine — a topic that became one of the key subjects of the conversation. The situation with Iran and various aspects of bilateral relations were also addressed.
Putin expressed confidence that energy cooperation would have a positive effect on the global economy. Western media had previously reported that the US and Russia were discussing a multibillion-dollar oil deal.
