08.11.2024 18:59Russia is deploying new guided bombs called “Grom-E1,” which have a range of up to 120 kilometers.
This information reported according to a report by the British newspaper The Telegraph.
“Grom-E1” can travel up to 120 kilometers due to their built-in rocket engine, writes analyst David Axe. He notes that these bombs enable Su-30 and Su-34 fighter jets to carry out strikes while staying out of the range of most Ukrainian air defense systems, including modern F-16s equipped with AMRAAM missiles.
“Grom-E1” have already been used to target sites in Myrnohrad, Kherson, and Kharkiv, as highlighted in the article.
In response, Ukraine has been striking back using French-made Hammer bombs and their local equivalents, as well as American JSOW bombs. However, these have a range of around 64 kilometers, leaving Ukrainian aircraft within the reach of Russian S-300 and S-400 systems, as well as Su-30 jets armed with R-77 missiles, the article emphasizes.
According to the Russian Aerospace Forces’ website, the “Grom-E1” is described as a versatile guided missile with satellite guidance for targeting a wide range of vulnerable ground targets with known coordinates, as well as surface targets in coastal areas.
