“The situation is difficult”: Ukraine’s industry continues to decline
03.06.2025 09:03Russia will agree to a third round of negotiations with Ukraine on two conditions.
This was stated in an interview with Russian media by Alexei Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The first condition is that attacks like the blowing up of railway bridges in Russia’s rear and attempts to attack strategic aviation airfields must not be repeated.
The second condition is the observance of the two- to three-day ceasefire proposed by Russia in certain areas of the front — “this will largely determine not only the timing of the third round but also its content.”
“This is a very important point and possibly even one of the key ones. At the moment, the initiative is on Ukraine’s side. If they agree to this decision and, more importantly, strictly adhere to it, and if adequate and workable monitoring mechanisms (for the ceasefire) are developed, then, I think, we can already talk about announcing some longer-term ceasefire period on more parts of the front or even on the entire front at once,” Chepa said.
If these conditions are met, he believes the new negotiations with Ukraine could take place by the end of June.
Recall that on the eve of these statements, negotiations between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations were held in Istanbul.
