Russia named two conditions for continuing negotiations with Ukraine
03.06.2025 08:37U.S. President Donald Trump remains open to meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
This was announced by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
“The President [of the United States] has said [previously] that he is open to it if it comes to that,” she said.
However, according to Leavitt, the American leader prefers that Russia and Ukraine conduct bilateral negotiations.
The White House Press Secretary also declined to comment on the current round of direct Russia-Ukraine talks in Istanbul, noting that Trump would address it later.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that following the meeting of Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Istanbul, Turkey plans to propose the idea of organizing a summit at the level of the countries’ leaders. The Turkish leader did not rule out that if there is a meeting between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine, Trump might participate in it as well.
