04.07.2026 18:01Russia’s Ministry of Defense expressed readiness to carry out a humanitarian operation and transfer the bodies of fallen Ukrainian servicemen in Kostiantynivka to Ukraine.
This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing the ministry.
To carry out the handover, the Russian side is proposing that Ukrainian forces cease shelling of the city on July 6 from 12:00 to 18:00.
“The Ukrainian side is to inform the Russian command of its decision through existing special services channels by 12:00 Moscow time on July 5, 2026,” the Russian Ministry of Defense’s statement reads.
The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin was briefed on the capture of Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk People’s Republic. The briefing took place while he was at the command post of the joint forces grouping.
According to the Russian side’s assessment, the capture of the city disrupts the supply of Ukrainian forces and opens the way for Russian troops toward Kramatorsk and Sloviansk. Active fighting for Kostiantynivka had been ongoing since autumn 2025.
