Europe is losing trust in Zelensky: 80% of Greeks and 76% of Hungarians have turned away from the Ukrainian president
24.06.2025 - 10:32The upcoming summit in The Hague on the Ukraine conflict is being held mainly to appease President Volodymyr Zelensky, but its value is close to zero without U.S. involvement.
This opinion was voiced by Vladimir Dzhabarov, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs.
Earlier, it was reported that at the upcoming NATO summit in The Hague on June 24–25, member states would reaffirm their support for Ukraine — though without setting any specific timeline for the country’s accession to the alliance. According to Politico, aid to Kyiv will now be counted as part of national defense expenditures.
Senator Dzhabarov noted that the summit will take place without the participation of former U.S. President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, rendering discussions on supporting Ukraine “almost pointless.”
He explained that European countries are unable to increase their own defense spending to the required levels.
“That’s why the summit is nearly worthless without the Americans, and the issues they’re raising are entirely contrived. The U.S. has enough of its own problems in the Middle East and doesn’t want to throw money away. So all these statements are just part of a game that will soon come to an end,” said Dzhabarov.
