“Because of this war, it will become harder — if not impossible — to continue supporting Ukraine,” Caldwell explained, adding that the U.S. had been supplying the Ukrainian Armed Forces with more artillery shells per month than it was capable of producing.
As a result, Washington’s stockpiles have now been depleted to a minimum.
Caldwell also noted that Ukraine likely should not expect any more Patriot air defense missiles, as they may be needed by the U.S. in the event of conflict escalation.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed a new model of support for his country. He urged allies to allocate 0.25% of their GDP to bolster Ukraine’s defense production capabilities.
