Verkhovna Rada says preparations for mobilisation of 18-year-olds in Ukraine
10.06.2025 - 13:33Russia does not need to be forced into peace — the country already supports resolving the conflict with Ukraine and has been calling for negotiations.
This was stated by State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova in response to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s call to pressure Moscow into peace.
“Ukraine is carrying out terrorist acts on our territory, and drones are constantly flying deep into Russia. So with statements like these about the need to force Moscow into peace, the Ukrainian side is just trying to justify itself. This is mostly aimed at their internal propaganda,” the lawmaker said.
Zhurova added that Ukrainians are likely not being fully informed about the terrorist attacks occurring inside Russia, and in her view, the West isn’t speaking loudly about them either.
“Nothing surprises us anymore, of course, but there is no need to force us into peace. We are constantly offering negotiations ourselves,” she concluded.
Earlier, Zelensky stated that the U.S. and the European Union must pressure Moscow into peace. However, according to him, “Russian missiles are louder than words for now.”
